This product says it is for 7 or 8 inch inner diameter... but then there is an advisory that says: "Venting Requirements: This unit requires venting pipe with an inner diameter of 8 Inches. Please see the Venting Components section on this page if available for venting pipe that must be used with this unit."
Does that mean it is still okay for 7 in? it sounds like the venting requirements information is saying it requires 8 and won't work for anything else?

That trim collar is for both 7 and 8-inch DuraTech pipe. Please keep in mind that those are the inside diameters and the outside diameters of the 7DT- and 8DT- pipes have a 9 and 10-inch outside diameter.

It does. it sits flat against the ceiling, around the perimeter of the ceiling support.
