Could this be mitered for a corner pellet stove?

We do not offer any customization of this item. However, it is a standard wooden mantel and theoretically could be cut down or modified in the field to fit your need.

How would this be installed on a wall above the fireplace?
    1 Answer
The shelf includes a wall cleat which is first secured to the wall, then the mantel is hung from the cleat. For extra security, it is advised to use finish nails to secure the shelf to the wall cleat.

I ordered this Empire 60 inch Profile woodne mantel shelf with standard trim in primed white and I was wondering if I could use a stain on it or will the white show through?
    1 Answer
You would want to order an unfinished mantel to apply a stain. The primed mantels are ready to paint, but staining will only be successful on un-primed or unpainted surfaces as the stain will need to soak in to the grain of the wood.

What is the installation procedure for this Empire 60 inch Profile wooden mantel shelf with standard trim onto a plaster wall? Also, what type of paint is recommended?
    1 Answer
For a plaster wall, it will be best to bore small holes that correspond with the predrilled holes in the wall cleat that come with the shelf, then install toggle bolts that are long enough to open past the lathing in the wall. The shelf will then hook on the wall cleat as normal. Standard acrylic interior house paint can be used.

    Betty
    from Gresham, OR asked:
    March 24, 2015
This says that the mantel is 60" long but then it also says, in the features, that the dimension is 60 1/2 W. What does this mean?
    1 Answer
Most likely, the manufacturer designed and built this mantel to be 60 inches in width, but when an example was measured, it came out to be 60 1/2 inches. Because each product is hand made, there can be a slight amount of variance from shelf to shelf.

How do I mount the mantel shelf to fireplace brick? Do I have to use glue or some kind of adhesive?
    1 Answer
The shelf will come with a mounting cleat. The cleat must first be leveled and secured to the wall with screws and anchors. The shelf will then press firmly onto the cleat.

Is this also available un-primed, to be stained? What is the wood?
    1 Answer
The unfinished version of this shelf can be seen here. Per the manufacturer, it is constructed of various asian hardwoods, similar to white oak, but it will have a slightly different grain pattern. The unfinished shelf is a stain grade material.

We're thinking of staining the mantel. If we later decide to paint, I assume that would not be a problem. It the version that's primed the same wood as the un-primed? What is the wood?
    1 Answer
Painting after staining would not be an issue. A coat or two of primer over the stain would aid the paint in adhering and covering, though. The primed and unfinished mantels are identical in construction. These mantels are constructed of cabinet grade hardwood, most commonly oak.

    Fast shipping and beautiful
We received this mantle faster than anyone else could get it. Another store wanted 3 weeks to deliver us one of theirs but not this seller. The Mantle was in great shape, - we ordered it primed, so only had to do 2 coats of the finishing coat. It came out beautiful!

I was very pleased with my mantle shelf. If fit perfectly and was exactly what I was looking for. It took a little longer to arrive than I was expecting but it was well worth the wait. I would definitely recommended this product. The cost was great which was a big plus.
