What do I do if the blower stops working?
I would start by testing the fan control switch to see if it has malfunctioned. A snap disc completes the circuit to turn the blower on. You can bypass this switch to see if the blower activates.

If I put a horizontal vent out of the wall, do I need to run a chimney up above the roof of the house?
Yes, your venting for this heater must run above the roof since it is a B-Vent heater, not a direct vent unit. If you prefer--and if you are installing a heater on an exterior wall--I can recommend a similar heater that is a direct vent heater, meaning it can vent out of the back of the appliance and terminate there on the exterior wall.

This model carries an efficiency rating in the mid 60% range, as such it would be an effective source of heat while also being efficient.
