Product Details
The Drolet Escape 1500 wood insert is a perfect way to give new life to your old masonry fireplace, and keep you warm all winter long. This insert delivers up to 6 hours of burn time with a maximum heat output of 23,300 BTU, all while leaving a staggeringly low emissions rate of 1.26 g/h. This unit is equipped with a secondary combustion system, and comes with a 29" x 44" black faceplate, as well as a premium blower.
Venting Requirements: This item requires a chimney with 6" inner diameter.

How does the blower circulate through the stove and into the room?
The blower pulls in cool air from the room at the bottom, front of the insert. Then the fan passes that air through a heat exchanger channel in the bottom and rear of the appliance. This channel is between the firebox and outer chassis of the unit. The air blows back out across the top of the insert through a slot between the surround and top of the insert.

Is there a larger faceplate?
The only faceplate available for the 1500-I is the one that comes standard with the unit. You would have to have an additional trim custom-made locally to cover any additional gap.

First, the minimum fireplace size you must have available is as follows:
Required Fireplace Minimum Width: 27 1/2"
Required Fireplace Minimum Height: 21 1/2"
Required Fireplace Minimum Depth: 12 3/4"
The surround that is included with the insert measures 44" wide and 29" high.

Nice insert for the money
I use this insert in my living room. I installed it myself and it was rather strait forward. It heats and keeps a fire very well. I do however have two complaints. The fire box is almost level with the door so ash tends to fall out landing on the top of the blower making it hard to close the door. The other is the shroud was too small for the opening on my fireplace so I had to do some customization to make it work. But both of those things I can live with for the price.

Exactly what they claim it will be
This wood stove is made of very good material and heats our house very well, approx, 1800 square feet, when I was doing my research I found that the E-Fireplace store beats the brick and mortar stores by at least two thirds, as far as price and workmanship goes, Give Cortney a call, and he will be more than happy to go over any questions or concerns you may have, these people are very much customer oriented, and it really was a pleasure talking with Cortney, and he made sure that this would fit my fireplace, as far as cons go, just one, the firebox could stand to have a bit more depth added to it, but as far as width goes it will hold an 18 inch log. And it beats my old stove hands down, which was an envirofire that was made in 1998.

Great wood stove
The stove heats my home well. wish the firebox was a little wider. I have to cut some of my wood thats over 18 inches long. auto blower and damper works well. with hard dry wood i get a 5 to 6 hour burn. great view from the door window.
