The DuraVent DVL 8 Inch Diameter to 7 Inch Diameter Reducer is a neat little gadget designed to smoothly transition your appliance's exhaust from an 8-inch opening down to a 7-inch one. This piece really helps when you need to connect a larger vent pipe to a smaller appliance outlet, making sure the setup fits just right. It's a straightforward way to get your venting system connected correctly. Just remember, it's a good idea to double-check with your appliance maker or the folks who oversee building codes to make sure this reducer is the right move for your specific setup, as changing vent sizes can sometimes mess with how well your chimney works.

Customer Q&A with Product Specialists

Jeff from Oregon asked:
I have an 8-inch DuraVent pipe that needs to connect to a 7-inch pipe. Pictures are included. Can you tell me if the DuraVent 8-inch to 7-inch reducer will work?
I have an 8-inch DuraVent pipe that needs to connect to a 7-inch pipe. Pictures are included. Can you tell me if the DuraVent 8-inch to 7-inch reducer will work?
This reducer is designed specifically for DuraVent's DVL double-wall stovepipe line to transition from an 8-inch DVL connector pipe to a 7-inch DVL connector pipe. It is not intended for use with Class A chimney pipe, other DuraVent lines like DuraTech or DuraPlus, or pipes from other manufacturers.

DuraVent's installation guidelines for this reducer note that altering pipe diameter can impact draft and negatively affect chimney performance. Therefore, it should only be used when approved by the appliance manufacturer or the relevant authority having jurisdiction.

We have reviewed the photos you provided. They show a wall pass-through with double-wall pipe on one side and a separate pipe section of a different diameter. However, no manufacturer markings are visible in either photo, preventing us from confirming the pipe brand or series.

To confirm this reducer is the correct part for your setup, please verify that both the 8-inch and 7-inch pipe sections are DuraVent DVL stovepipe. Additionally, please provide the make and model of the appliance this setup vents, as manufacturer approval is required for any diameter changes.
