Customer Q&A with Product Specialists

Kent C. from Montana asked:
Do I need a wall sleeve for this unit?
Do I need a wall sleeve for this unit?
No, a separate wall sleeve is not required for this unit. The CCV15A10A is a Chill Premier Inverter model designed for both window and through-the-wall installations, utilizing the included hardware for mounting. For a window installation, the one-piece frame and the provided window mounting kit with SimpleSill technology are sufficient, allowing the window to operate normally after installation. For a through-the-wall installation, you will not need to purchase a separate metal sleeve. The unit's chassis slides out of its cabinet. You will need to construct a wooden frame within the wall opening, matching the depth of your wall. The cabinet then fits into this wooden frame and is secured with screws or nails. The finished opening in the wall should be 18 1/2 inches high by 26 inches wide. The cabinet is designed with a slight 3-degree tilt towards the outside for condensate drainage, and angled sill support brackets, along with a wooden strip attached to the exterior wall, help support the unit's weight. If your wall thickness is 8 1/2 inches or more, aluminum flashing should be installed over the bottom of the frame opening to prevent water from entering between the inner and outer walls. Detailed step-by-step instructions and diagrams for both mounting methods can be found in the Friedrich installation guide: Friedrich installation guide for the Friedrich 15K BTU R-32 Chill Premier Inverter Window or Thru-Wall Air Conditioner. The air conditioner is not turning on. What could be the problem?
The air conditioner is not turning on. What could be the problem?
Here are the checks Friedrich recommends for this unit when it will not start. Please follow these steps in order: 1. Confirm the power plug is fully inserted into the outlet. 2. Check your home's fuse box or circuit breaker panel. Reset the breaker or replace the fuse if it is tripped or blown. This unit requires a dedicated circuit due to its high amperage draw. 3. Press the RESET button on the plug at the end of the power cord. This plug contains a current interrupter device that must be reset for the unit to power on. 4. After power is restored, allow approximately 3 minutes for cooling to begin. A built-in time delay protects the compressor, so the unit may operate without cooling for the first few minutes. Friedrich's safety note: If the RESET button does not stay engaged, discontinue use of the air conditioner and contact a qualified service technician. The complete troubleshooting chart is available on page 19 of the Friedrich Chill Premier owner's manual. If the unit still does not power on after completing all four steps, this is considered a defect claim. Please provide your order number or order confirmation so we can verify your purchase through us, as we are the authorized dealer. Alternatively, you can submit your claim directly via our Claim Request Form. Please have the unit's serial number available, as it is required for all appliance warranty claims.

I am looking for a through-the-wall air and heat unit with 10,000 BTU and 220-volt power, with dimensions of approximately 23 by 15 inches.
I am looking for a through-the-wall air and heat unit with 10,000 BTU and 220-volt power, with dimensions of approximately 23 by 15 inches.
The Friedrich CCV15A10A unit you are viewing is a cooling-only model that operates on 115V and does not provide heat, so it does not meet your requirements for a 220V heat and cool unit.

However, we do offer 10,000 BTU heat and cool through-the-wall units that run on 230V. Here are three options that align with your specifications:

TCL 10K BTU Smart Through-The-Wall Air Conditioner - 230V - $609.99, ships same business day
Keystone 10,000 BTU Through-the-Wall Air Conditioner with Supplemental Heat - $708.95, ships same business day
Friedrich 10K BTU R-32 Uni-Fit Heat/Cool Thru-Wall Air Conditioner - $939.00, ships same business day

Please note that a 23 by 15-inch opening is smaller than these through-the-wall units require. Through-the-wall air conditioners are designed for a standard wall sleeve, and dimensions are consistent across brands. For example, the Friedrich Uni-Fit specification sheet indicates that the finished wall hole needs to be 26-1/8 inches wide by 15-3/4 inches high. The sleeve itself measures 25-7/8 by 15-1/2 inches, and even the chassis without the sleeve is 24-1/4 inches wide by 14-1/2 inches high. Our LG through-the-wall sleeve also follows this standard, measuring 25-7/8 inches wide by 15-17/32 inches high externally. Your opening of 23 inches is approximately 3 inches narrower than the smallest required width, and 15 inches is about 3/4 inch short in height. Unfortunately, none of our current through-the-wall models feature a narrower cabinet.

To help us better assist you, could you please clarify the following:

- Are the 23 by 15 inches measurements for the rough opening framed into the wall, the interior of an existing sleeve, or the face of the unit you are replacing? These measurements can differ significantly, and an existing sleeve is often wider than the unit it houses.
- What is the thickness of the wall from the inside surface to the outside surface? Depth is as important as width for installation. The Friedrich sleeve is 16-3/4 inches deep and requires at least a 3-3/4 inch extension into the room.

If you can enlarge the opening to approximately 26-1/8 by 15-3/4 inches, any of the three units listed above will fit. If modifying the wall opening is not feasible, a mini-split heat pump is an excellent alternative. These units provide both heating and cooling, operate on 230V, and only require a small, approximately 3-inch penetration through the wall. You can explore our range of mini-split heat pumps under Mini Split Air Conditioners, and our Mini Split Buyers Guide offers further information on sizing and voltage.

Please reply with these measurements and your shipping zip code, and we will provide a complimentary quote with pricing guaranteed for 30 days.
