Please note that a 23 by 15-inch opening is smaller than these through-the-wall units require. Through-the-wall air conditioners are designed for a standard wall sleeve, and dimensions are consistent across brands. For example, the Friedrich Uni-Fit specification sheet indicates that the finished wall hole needs to be 26-1/8 inches wide by 15-3/4 inches high. The sleeve itself measures 25-7/8 by 15-1/2 inches, and even the chassis without the sleeve is 24-1/4 inches wide by 14-1/2 inches high. Our LG through-the-wall sleeve also follows this standard, measuring 25-7/8 inches wide by 15-17/32 inches high externally. Your opening of 23 inches is approximately 3 inches narrower than the smallest required width, and 15 inches is about 3/4 inch short in height.
