This Pilgrim Ball and Claw screen is a simple and elegant addition to a fireplace. It is bowed in shape with ball-and-claw finials and heavy-duty steel construction. It is made of grey heavy-duty mesh with a burnished black finish. The mesh serves as a guard against sparks as well as a safety barrier for children and pets. It is lightweight in design and easy to move for cleaning. This screen effectively combines practical and decorative features into one piece. The height is about 33", and a limited lifetime warranty is included with purchase.
Please Note: The listed screen size refers to the framed mesh area and does not include feet or decorative finials. Also, because this product is hand-forged, it may vary slightly from the dimensions provided. Please allow for an eighth-inch tolerance.

I have a Pilgrim tool set that I bought in 2005 that has balls (no claws) on top of the tools. It is black (I would call it a matte black, but no longer have the formal description). What is the difference between a burnished black and the matte black?
Burnished has more of a texture to the finish then a smoother matte finish. Both are flat and without a shine.

How does this screen stay up? I don't see any feet or support brackets connected to it.
The screen does not use support feet but relies solely on the bow of the design for stability. It is important that the screen is pushed against the fireplace facing, as the screen can easily tip towards the concave side of the bow.
