Pilgrim 24 1/2 Inch Seven Bar Steel Ember Fireplace Grate

Finally, I got what I needed! After trying other grates and having them collapse because the manufacturer didn’t put a middle support piece in them, I bought this one it not only has the middle support but it is really heavy-duty and does an outstanding job!!!

After 3 failed attempts at ordering from a different online fireplace merchant, we ordered this one which came quickly and in good condition. We've enjoyed a couple of long-lasting fires so far and are looking forward to more this season.

We received the grate with delays due to availability. We were offered an alternate, but waited and received it prior to needing a fire. The company was gracious and easy to deal with. Have not yet tried out the grate---waiting for cooler weather.

Fireplace grate is heavy duty and well constructed. I know it’s early in the season (Sept) to be using a fireplace, but it gets cool at night in Vermont, and we really wanted to try out the new grate. It’s awesome!

This is a very heavy duty (and heavy!) fireplace grate. Should hold up well.

This is a well made product of solid steel bars welded together that no doubt last my lifetime and beyond!

We have had trouble with smoke coming into the room ever since we built this fireplace. Our previous fireplace grate metal quickly bent. The quality of this new grate metal is great! Very sturdy and the size/height and design have solved all our smoke issues. We are very pleased!

Overall the grate is very nice. Super sturdy and only 3" tall is perfect height for gas starters to catch the wood on fire. The size is just right too for my fireplace.
The only downside is the 8 bars it has. Its a little too many. In the back, there is very little room for the ashes to fall through the grate. Would be better with only 7 bars. My last grate had 6 bars, was basically the same size, and that was just right at the rear of the fireplace but not enough at the front - it would allow large embers to fall through.

All in all, though I'm happy with the purchase.

I measured per directions and grate fit perfectly. It is very sturdy so hope to get many more years than the old one.

Very happy with the build on this. The legs are not level when you get it, but that is done on purpose as they will level once a few hot fires burn on the grate according to the manufacturer. They should point this out in the listing so you don't think it's a defective unit when it arrives. Now all I need is a cold front to arrive in Texas so I can use my fireplace!

The grate is a solid product, and i expect it would last forever practically. The only problem is that while the grate's maximum outer measurements match the description, the outer bars of the grate are 2-3" inward from where they could be, making the grate's useful space far less than it could be.

An extremely sturdy grate well worth the money. I was having issues with smoke backing up into the house until purchasing this grate. The 6 inch height is the answer. Added space and enhanced draft eliminated the problem. Since using the grate for 8 fires, smoke backing into the house is a thing of the past. Added bonus is the mesh that holds large pieces in place only allowing ash to fall to firebox surface. The piece is sturdy and holding up very well during early stages of use.

You might pay a little more for this item but as the saying goes “you get what you pay for.”

This grate replaced one that I had for almost 30 years. I wanted to replace it with one of same size and quality. The thick bars and supports do the job. I didn't want to settle for less. I like the flat design that supports the logs and low clearance. Having eight bars makes a difference too.

I could have bought a grate of lesser quality and paid a little less. But you only get what you pay for and this was a really good deal for a high quality grate. Also included free shipping.

Needed a grate that had legs and lower section that was at least 5.5" high due to a high gas line. This grate has almost 6" clearance and worked perfect!

This fireplace grate is sturdy and it fits perfectly in our firebox. Before purchase was hoping the criss-cross section on the bottom of the grate would be permanently attached and it is attached very nicely. It is a natural part of the grate as a whole. Extremely pleased with this purchase.

I was needing a grate that would sit above the propane/gas bar in our fireplace. Several years ago, we bought one locally that cost at least $100 more, but we had to have one with taller legs and it seemed to be our only option. This is an extremely sturdy fireplace grate. Only used it once so far since the weather hasn't been very cold, but I can tell it is built to last a long time! It makes our fireplace look cleaner, too.

I have purchased products from E-fireplace store in the past, and have always been pleased. I needed to purchase a grate for the fireplace, and I didn't know which size to get. I submitted the measurements of the firebox to their staff, and they replied via email the size that I needed. I purchased it, and it fit perfectly!

The unit is great, keeps enough embers on the rack and away from the back firewall but the legs are too long and dropped embers are too far away from the wood fuel. I cut the legs down to 2" and it works great.

We discussed with rep. before we bought it. Visited about several grates before purchase. Had found this on their web site. Received the product as scheduled. Have placed in fireplace and fit perfectly. Have used it several times and it works well.

The fireplace grate appears to be solid and will work fine. However, I'd have to say that once I examined the workmanship and materials that I thought it was a bit overpriced. Certainly happy with the product but I wonder if I could have located one of the same quality locally for less.

The store had exactly what I was looking for. The grate seems like it may be the last one i have to buy.

This was my first visit to this store and just one of several web searches I made. But I kept coming back both for the pricing and variety of options. This grate has been a wonderful replacement for our antiquated one. But if it wasn't for the professional customer service during a phone call I might have passed this product by because the image shows 8 bars while the knowledgeable rep confirmed it was 7. My wife takes credit for giving this one a try and we couldn't be more pleased. It arrived quickly and precisely when promised. The packaging was first rate and the fit in our fireplace perfect. More important the 6" height results in a fantastic draft and burn. The heavy gauge wire mesh welded to the massive steel bars efficiently drops ash but retains a hot ember bed. This is a wonderful set. The grate and ember screen make my fires easier to start, easier to manage, and last longer. The fire starters don't fall through the grate so lighting the fire is much faster. The logs don't roll around much so there is little rearranging to be done. The embers stay close to the logs instead of falling away, so the fire stays hot and burns longer. It is a great product and I am thrilled with it!

It is a great fireplace grate. Extremely durable and large enough for a good fire. The only draw back is that the platform for the wood sits a little too high off the floor of the fireplace for a non-gas starting fireplace. For a conventional fireplace the starting source is a little to low to set the wood on fire.

This fireplace had a lot of information about it, so we were able to easily select the one we wanted. The nice thing about it is the fact that it comes with a leg to hold the extra large pieces of wood that tend to be a little more cumbersome.
