This grate has six metal cross bars to hold the wood securely and has a clearance of 3" to create a good draft and encourage vigorous burning. It comes with a classic black finish and is made of heavy-duty Diamond steel. The dimensions of the grate make it ideal for most factory-built and shallower masonry wood-burning fireplaces. The item carries a limited lifetime warranty. The dimensions are 22.5 FW x 16" BW x 14" D x 3" clearance.

There are 6 cross bars. The photo is a stock photo of another size from pilgrim, but the same design.

This would fit into the unit and the clearance is 3" high which should assist in keeping the splits closer to the hot coals, which should assist in keeping the fire going.

We received the grate with delays due to availability. We were offered an alternate, but waited and received it prior to needing a fire. The company was gracious and easy to deal with. Have not yet tried out the grate---waiting for cooler weather.

Perfect fit for small masonry fireplace
To be honest, I was surprised the grate shipped as is, no packaging. Wish that was noted as the grate was left on our driveway. Otherwise I measured per directions and grate fit perfectly. It is very sturdy so hope to get many more years than the old one.
