Worth the money

This grate looks spectacular in my large fireplace. The fire stars and burns more consistently because there is more room for air to circulate from beneath.

The team was easy to work with and the Pilgrim 7-Bar was a great gift for my friend. Will recommend and purchase from again.

Very sturdy and well built. Easy to clean ashes from underneath. Logs feed down well. Won't have to buy another grate any time soon! Don't waste your money on cheap grates, this is well worth the money.

FINALLY--a grate tall enough to clear a gas starter! I searched the internet, but had difficulty finding a grate that would sit well above the gas starter in our fireplace, plus be sturdy. This one fit the bill. It more than clears the starter with 4.5" legs and is made of steel. We haven't had a chance to use it more than a few times thus far, but so far so good. The air circulates around and under the grate well, so we aren't having to constantly stoke the fire. Nice product. I highly recommend this grate for people who have gas starters.

Customer service helped me figure out exact measurements I needed and shipped the perfect grate to replace our 30 year old one.

This grate was delivered to me a few weeks back. I bought it primarily because i needed something with a FULL 4.5" clearance. The grate itself is exceptionally well made, and arrived super fast. The downside is the 4.5" clearance isn't totally accurate. It was 4.5" of clearance only in the front of the grate, and then it slopes down in the mid-back to just under 4.0". My gas starter sits a smidgen too high and was hitting on the bottom of the grate. On the bright side, the return was easy and this company was good to work with on returning such an awkward item. (Note when delivered it does not arrive in a box.)

The arms of the grate are welded a bit askew. It looks slightly warped.

Heavy duty material, however, I had to re weld one of the bars because of inadequate welding during assembly. All welds were very poor with not much penetration.

I was very impressed with how heavy duty it was! If you want a heavy duty well made grate to last this should be it. I was not happy with the fact it did not sit flat as the legs were not equal in length. More care should be taken to make sure it will sit flat. I had to grind the legs to level it so it would not rock from front to back. It is damn hard steel too! I happend to have a very heavy duty grinder or it would have sucked! Quality control people!
