Gas fireplace has not been used in 12 years. Should the Dante Valve be replaced and unit inspected for safe function?

You might not have to replace the valve as long as it is operational but you should always have your unit checked out after extended periods of not being used. I would call a plumber, hvac installer, or licensed fireplace installer.

How do I remove the actual plate of this Dante globe gas valve, key and floor plate kit?
1 Answer
The plate should only be hand tight. By pressing the palm of your hand down on the plate firmly and rotating counter-clockwise, the plate should begin to spin loose. You can then continue rotating it until it has been completely removed.
