    Does the floor plate kit needs to be installed into a floor? Can I connect the floor plate to the valve through a wood box?

    No. "Floor plate" is just the name of the part. It is not required to be installed into a floor.

    Does this valve have UL or ETL type of certification?

    Per the manufacturer, both the globe and ball valves carry a CSA certification, however they are not a UL or Omni listed component.

    Can either opening be used for gas input or is the flow direction predetermined?

    Per the manufacturer, the flow direction on all Dante brand valves is reversible. The valve seat is designed to be able to function either way.
