What size gas pipe hookup is required for the 30-inch round burner?
The 30-inch 3-spoke fire ring is rated for a maximum output of 435,000 BTU per hour and requires a natural gas inlet pressure between 5 and 10.5 inches water column. The appropriate supply pipe diameter depends on the length of the run from the meter, the number of fittings and elbows, the supply pressure at your address, and other gas appliances on the line. It is recommended to provide the 435,000 BTU figure to a licensed gas professional or plumber, who can then size the supply line according to local codes using standard gas capacity tables.
According to the Grand Canyon installation guide, the large install kit, which uses 3/4 inch fittings, is paired with the 30, 36, and 48-inch rings, while the 18 and 24-inch rings use the small kit with 1/2 inch fittings. This fire ring is shipped as a burner only and includes one 1/2 inch NPT pipe plug and an Allen wrench; no ignition system is included.
