We purchased this particular fire ring because my wife wanted to have a really large fire, and that?s just what we got with this product. It works well, however, there are some things that you should consider before making your purchase. First of all, there needs to be about six inches or so of clearance between the outer ring and the wall of your fire pit. If the fire is really roaring and you get any wind, the flame is going to move around a lot. The six inches will add extra protection for you and your guests. The bottom line is that you should be ready to use a considerable amount of space in your yard for this unit. We went for a poured concrete look, and highly recommend Sonotube to create your concrete form. This made the round shape easy to achieve, and the process went fairly quickly too. It is a little on the expensive side, but it was definitely worth it to us. We also used a yellow flex hose to supply gas after we ran a 1 inch pipe from our home?s natural gas supply. It didn?t work in the end because the hose made a loud and irritating whistling noise. I got rid of the flex hose, and went with a galvanized straight pipe that does actually work very well. It will take some time and patience to get the fire ring right in the middle of the concrete circle, but you can do it. These flames are fantastic! They are 18 inches from the fire pit, and it?s really amazing. I love this fire ring.
