How many jets (holes) does this starter have? What do you mount it to?
There are 18 holes punched into the burner which mounts directly to the rigid gas line stub that would come in from either the right or left hand side of the fireplace.

Rick from Castle Rock, CO asked:
If you add a valve to this kit, how do you light it? Do you turn the valve and use a match? Or can it be hooked up to a switch with a low voltage ignition light a gas log fireplace?

A manual control valve would indeed be used with this log lighter. The valve would be opened and the lighter would be ignited immediately with a match. Unfortunately, there is not an automatic ignition system designed to be used with the product. The primary issue is with the heat and ash generated by a wood fire. Pilot assemblies are too sensitive to work properly in this environment.
