Functions well, but will not last.
The grate is a good size and holds the burning wood without much falling through the grates. I have an open fireplace and this is much better than the usual straight bars with large gaps between them. The finish is already peeling off after only a half season of use, compared to a different grate I have that has lasted for years. When this one is no longer useable I will be looking for a better quality version.

Prevents burning wood from falling through.
Cons
Finish is not durable.
