Adding this 36 inch by 36 inch stove board in front of your hearth can extend the protection of your fireplace and keep the embers and sparks from damaging the floor in front of your fireplace. With this board in place, your gas, traditional, or electric fireplace will not damage the floor around it, and with a simple hardware kit, you can even use this as a wall shield to protect the walls around your fireplace.

Can I use this Hy-C 36 x 26 inch Type 3 UL1618 gray slate tile stove board under my pellet stove instead of a normal hearth pad?
This offers Type 2 protection from from both thermal heat and embers and would be acceptable for most wood stoves. As such, this should be more than adequate for your pellet stove.
