What is the minimum safe distance from the firetop to a mounted TV?
The manufacturer recommends a minimum distance between the top of the fireplace and the bottom of the television of at least 27" with the traditional installation. This distance can be lessened to 12" when the installation uses the Passive Heat System. This information starts on page 7 of this owner's manual.

When installing a Passive Heat (front discharge) kit, for a Majestic Echelon 48" fireplace, how close to the ceiling can the top of the discharge opening be?
I spoke to the manufacturer and there is no clearance requirement from the ceiling. However, there are limitations that are measured from the base of the unit to the bottom and top of the discharge opening. These measurements can be found on page 6 of the manual and are listed in columns B, D, and E.

No, this kit is only suitable for use and only compatible with select Majestic direct vent gas fireplaces.
