I just had my chimney swept for the first time. They told me I could easily do it myself from the bottom without a need to go on the roof (they didn't).
They said I needed 18' of rod. There is only one 90 degree angle at the entry that the rod needs to make. I have a 6" insulated insert, so they said I needed a 6" soft brush. Am I fine with a 6" poly brush that you have listed on the website, and these Rutland Fiberglass rods (3 of them at 6' would give me 18' total)? I don't believe that I need any other attachments or adapters since they are both listed at 1/4" thread on both. If you tell me I am "good to go" with the soft brush and these rods that will work on my 90 degree angle, then I am ready to purchase. I will only use these once a year. I burn 2-3 cords hardwood per year.
You will indeed be all set for your application with the poly brush and standard rods. Even with the smaller diameter rods, the 90 degree bend may be a bit tough to negotiate initially. Once you have the hang of it however, it is indeed relatively simple.
