Whether you're buffing up an old wood stove that needs some TLC or practicing an ounce of prevention to avoid problems in the future, a good high-temperature fireplace paint is a must. Rutland's name has been in the game for quite a while, and they've perfected their formula for hi-temp paint. This paint applies easily with a brush, and just a few thin coats properly applied and fired help protect your steel, cast iron, and aluminum fire appliances from rust and corrosion. Rutland's fireplace and stove paint even protects from UV damage for up to a year, whether you're using it indoors or out.

Can says for metal but can this be used on brick?
    1 Answer
It is not recommended to paint over brick and mortar, as the high temperatures often cause the paint to discolor and separate quickly. The better option would be to apply a thin coating of refractory mortar over the existing material. This will seal and protect any damaged brick, while enhancing the thermal efficiency of the fireplace.
