Features

  • Easy application
  • Safe to use in all types of chimneys
  • Reduces the chances of chimney fires
  • Allows fires to burn more cleanly and efficiently
  • Changes creosote into a powder that can be brushed away
  • For airtight wood-burning stoves, fireplace inserts, and masonry fireplaces
Wood burning fireplaces and stoves produce creosote that builds up in your chimney. Creosote remover can help because if creosote is left untreated, it can constrict the chimney passageway causing smoke buildup to enter into the room or even a fire to start in the chimney. Fortunately, there is an easy solution to preventing this problem. Merely putting a scoop of this creosote removal powder from Rutland into your fire will change the creosote into a powder that you can quickly brush away. By regularly using this creosote remover, you can reduce this problem and also help your fires burn more cleanly and efficiently.

This would be safe to use with a chimney liner for your insert, and I would suggest using a nylon brush to clear out residue after.

Hello, so would it make more sense to use it for a few days then clean the chimney & then use it to maintain? Seems to me if I use it 2 times a week without cleaning it (if there is buildup) that might pose a problem thanks.

I would say that would be a good route to go on keeping the chimney clean using this.

This product will not cause any collateral damage to the clay flue or surrounding masonry when used in the proper amounts. The product is designed to be applied to a well established fire and will simply dry creosote deposits within the flue through a gradual chemical reaction. The active ingredient has no effect on clay or brick.

How many applications will this 2 lb tub do, and how often should it be used?
Per the manufacturer, you should initially use this product twice a week for the first month, then once weekly is acceptable. Used at these intervals, the product should last for approximately 7 months.

Creosote Remover

This is the best creosote remover! You can literally hear creosote falling from inside the pipes. It is much easier and cleaner than using a spray.
