This model slides into your existing masonry fireplace firebox and offers trim options that fill the gaps between Osburn's insert and your hearth surround. Moreover, this high-efficiency fireplace insert eliminates the drafty nature of traditional wood-burning fireplaces and replaces it with EPA-certified reliability in heating. Never again will you feed a fire that leaves you with a home that is still chilly- the Osburn 2000 wood fireplace insert uses every scrap of wood to keep you warm from head to toe.

    from Taylorsville, GA asked:

I have an existing wood-burning fireplace a prefab unit.  I want to replace it with an insert to make it more efficient.  Do I have to remove the current one and replace it?
    1 Answer
None of our woodburning inserts are listed for installation inside a manufactured/pre-fab unit, so, yes, the current unit would need to be removed and a new one installed in its place.  Please note, however, that this will almost certainly also require a complete replacement of the chimney components.

    Devin
    from Baltimore, MD asked:
    November 26, 2023
What is the minimum clearance from the body of the stove to the combustible mantel/surround? Is there a minimum clearance required for the faceplate of insert?
    1 Answer
Mantel clearances are page 30 of the manual and the surround clearances are on pages 35 and 36. You can view the manual here.

There is a Q&A about BTU output.... Answer states 32,2000 but specs state:
    • Maximum BTU Output with Dry Cordwood: 75,000

There is a large difference between the two, which is correct?

    1 Answer
Both are actually correct, though of course we understand why this would be confusing.  The 32,000 BTU output rating was achieved via EPA testing, which requires a specific kind of wood.  Meanwhile, the 75,000 BTU output was a result of testing by the manufacturer with their choice of fuel.   Per the manufacturer, "The EPA test fuel is dimensional Douglas fir pieces stapled together into cribs with air spaces between. We also test using the same procedure except using split hardwood firewood to reflect real-world heat output. This insert is not intended to operate at its peak heat output continuously."

    Burl Bruce
    from Bella Vista, AR asked:
    May 17, 2023
Can this be installed in a prefab fireplace?
    1 Answer
Per the manufacturer's installation instructions found here on page 27, it states, " INSTALLATION INTO AN EXISTING FACTORY-BUILT ZERO-CLEARANCE FIREPLACE: It is possible to install a wood insert into an existing factory-built zero-clearance fireplace. However, there currently exists no UL or ULC standard specific to that type of installation. The factory-built zero clearance fireplace must be listed; that is, safety certified by an accredited certification agency such as UL/ULC, Omni, or Intertek). It must be suitable for use with solid fuel and nothing in the owner’s manual must specifically prohibit the installation of a fireplace insert. When in doubt, check with the fireplace manufacturer. The installation of the zero-clearance fireplace MUST be thoroughly inspected by a qualified person to ensure that it still meets the manufacturer’s specifications. The chimney must be at least 1" (25 mm) larger in diameter than the stainless steel liner that will run from the insert flue collar to the top of the chimney termination.

Why does it have an 8-hour run time?
    1 Answer
The 8-hour burn time is the time that is based on the testing used to certify the appliance. The 8 hours is referencing the time that 40 pounds of wood were used at the testing facility.

I would like to replace a fireplace insert with a wood stove insert. Is this model zero clearance or will I need to install fire brick in the current opening, then install the stove?
    1 Answer
This is not a zero clearance model and it is only suitable for installation inside an existing brick/masonry fireplace.  It cannot be modified to be installed in the manner you describe.  However, we do have a full selection of built-in stove type models that are zero clearance and you can see those here.

    How loud is the fan?
    1 Answer
The manufacturer does not provide a decibel rating for the fan motor.  We would say it is a noticeable humming, but not necessarily what we would consider noisy to a distracting degree.

Is this or any of the high efficiency wood burners rated for modular home use? I am looking for a replacement for a Superior MHW36CB insert. The dimensions are 36.5" high x 41" wide x 22.5" deep. I was looking at the Stratford but looks like I may need to stay with a insert.

The Superior EPA certified zero clearance fireplaces can be installed in mobile homes as long as they are anchored and their mobile specific installation guidelines are followed. These standards will be listed in the manual on each product page.
