Can it hold flame-less candles (battery-operated)?
Each candle platform has a pin welded to it that would make it difficult to place in an electric candle. However, the pins could be cut by a good set of side cutters or by a cutting wheel.

If this SEI 10 candle candelabra is in a fireplace, do you need to open the flue when burning the candles?
This will be purely personal preference. The smell of several candles burning at once can be a bit overwhelming for some, but it is not absolutely necessary to open the flue.
