Does the handle get hot to the touch?

The wound spring handle is designed to stay cool enough that it can be handled with bare hands. The remainder of the kettle is indeed a solid iron casting.

Per the manufacturer, there are not any specific preparation instructions for this product before using it for the first time. It is only recommended to rinse the inside of the product prior to first use.

How does rust affect the release of water into the air in the room?
1 Answer
A slight buildup of oxidation on the inside of the kettle is completely normal and will not affect the performance of the item. However, should heavier scaling start to build up, I recommend roughing up the inside of the kettle with a piece of steel wool and rinsing any residue out.

A Reasonable Price
This item is not as high quality as I'd like, but for the price it seems fine. I would thoroughly season the iron before the first use. Altogether I am satisfied with my purchase.

Exactly What We Wanted!
I'm happy that this matches so exactly the former tea kettle we had on our wood stove. It looks great and works well as a humidifier.
