US Fireplace Products Energy Top Install Kit

We recently purchased a 1976 home. I was excited to find that it had a fireplace, but disappointed when I saw that it had one of those medieval heater inserts. I'm a naturalist who believes that there's nothing better than being able to see the flames, hear the crackle and smell the burning wood in an open fireplace. We removed the insert, but much to our dismay, the flue chain was not long enough to attach to the inside of the fireplace walls, so our flue was constantly open. I didn't want to replace the entire flue system, so I found this kit, and was a little skeptical, but was pleasantly surprised. The chain was exactly like our existing chain. This made it easy to take off the bottom piece of the existing chain and slip on the new chain as an extension. We tried it out, and VOILA - it reaches! We were able to install the bracket and pull the chain to the side, and we can now close our flue!!! This kit was a life saver.
