This air cleaner installs as an in-line filter housing cabinet directly in your ductwork, rather than mounting onto the air handler itself. According to the installation manual, it must be installed in the return air duct in the section preceding the blower compartment, not in the supply duct, to ensure all air passes through the filter before reaching the blower. The unit can be mounted horizontally, vertically, or at an angle, and it is internally reversible to match your airflow direction. To connect it, the housing is spliced into the existing ductwork, and all joints and seams should be sealed with duct tape or caulking. Ultravation recommends that this unit be installed and maintained by a trained HVAC technician, and at least 26 inches of clearance should be planned in front of the access door for future filter replacement.
