This fan requires direct contact with the hot surface of a wood burning appliance in order for there to be enough temperature differential for the electric thermal pad to generate current to power the motor. As such, it will only work for a wood burning insert or wood stove.

Hello,
I had a house fire in March and My Airmax Ecofan 812 series was damaged a bit. I bought this fan from ya'll in December of 2013. It looks like it's just the motor and the connecting wires that were damaged so I would like to replace them. Does your replacement part : MRKCA01BX come with all the wires? I understand that there are two sets of wires that connect at a joint. There are the wires that come down from the top of the fan and the wires that connect into the motor. But as you might be able to see in the photos that I sent, it looks like where these two wires meet could be compromised. Do you also sell the wires that link into the top of the fan? Or do you have any recommendations as to how to fix what you see in the photo with what you sell in replacement parts? Thanks!

The black piece where the wires meet are attached to the two wires that come attached to the replacement motor, so you will receive each part needed.

That does indeed sound like a motor issue. I would suggest replacing the motor.

Amazing the difference with a new motor
These motors are getting hard to find, I'm glad to have found them here. I got 3 so I have some backups. The install is pretty straight forward and simple. The kit comes with all the tools you need except for a phillips head screw driver. Everyone has one of those right? I now place these fans on a 1" thick firebrick, and they seem to last longer. Definitely worth the money and this is a great place to get em.

Quality and easy installation
My fault I needed a new motor, placed it nearer the front of the stove because of the effectiveness of it, but forgot the warning not to put it up there. The new motor was easy to install, and works perfectly. My previous fan lasted over 10 years until it just wore out, and couldn't replace the motors back then.
