Protect your cable.
This was a low cost addition to add piece of mind that the cable would not rub and wear on the sharp corners of my firebox and chimney. Make sure you slip it on prior to cutting the cable to length. Otherwise you will need to climb up on the roof, pull the cable up and slip it on, then drop it back down the chimney.
