A top-mounted damper can eliminate as much as 90% of the air loss of a traditional damper so it can save you a lot of money in heating and cooling costs. This damper by Lyemance mounts on top of your flue tile and uses silicone rubber to create an air-tight seal. It has a 32' stainless steel cable that drops through the flue and mounts into the firebox. The damper can be easily opened with 143 lbs of leverage. The damper comes with all necessary hardrware, silicone sealant, 32' cable, and complete instructions. It is not recommended for use with gas logs since failure to open completely could cause carbon monoxide build-up inside the house. The item has dimensions of 12" W x 16" L and will fit inside flue sizes of 9-1/4" x 12-3/4" to 12" x 15. It has a cross sectional area of 90 square inches.

Great product!
My home was built in 1942. The damper was failing, and I can't imagine how much heat it lost over the years. I heard about this damper and decided to buy it. It was super easy to install.
