Well built, should be trivial to install, but I had trouble
This is a review of the Lyemance 13 Inch x 18 Inch Damper Cap. The cap is stainless steel, and is of very high quality and is beautifully made.
In theory, it just drops over the top of the damper/chimney and you tighten 4 stainless steel screws (each 2 inches long) that press into the masonry. The tips of these screws are conical (they taper to a point). Alas, on our chimney the screws were not long enough to get tight. I had to buy 4 4 inch long 1/4-20 stainless steel screws, and grind points onto them, and use a 1/4-20 die to clean up the threads damaged by the grinding.
For this reason I reluctantly only gave it 4 stars. I sort of hate to do that, because the overall quality is impeccable.
