The paint will work, so long as the surface temperature of the heater does not exceed 250 degrees. Also, the full list of colors are available on the product page for the item in question, just underneath the main product photograph. By clicking the thumbnail image, a larger image showing all of the available colors will appear.

Two cans will be needed as one can will approximately cover 4 square feet. Multiple coats will indeed be needed.
