How do I wire 120V power to the millivolt control? I want to use a wall switch to turn on and off the flame in the fireplace
1 Answer
This millivolt fireplace can not be wired to 120V AC power. The millivolt pilot light produces the energy needed to operate the control valve. The installation manual will reference the correct wiring for the wall switch installation. No power is required at the wall switch.

Can this be vented through a wall that is actually into a sun porch that is not used in winter? But is technically inside a heated sun porch?

No. If this fireplace is horizontally terminated, it must be on an exterior wall with open air all around, not on a patio or porch enclosure.

This model does indeed have a 50% flame height adjustment as one of its standard features. The unit does not have a battery backup, as it is a standing pilot model and generates its own electricity. The unit will work in the event of a power outage without any other backup system needed.

This unit can indeed be placed into a corner. When installed in this configuration and placed as close to the wall as possible, the corner wall would measure 51 1/8 inches across.

Excellent Product
We wanted a gas fireplace in our new house but the builders did not offer it as an option. After much research, we decided to buy the Empire Tahoe Deluxe Direct Vent Natural Gas Fireplace. It was easy to install and we love the ambiance and ease of operation.
Easy to install.

Nice looking unit
The physical installation went well and was about 4 hours (It was a replacement, which makes it a bit more difficult) Once in place, it is going to look nice when the the rock work is replaced. It is not yet in service, as an installer is coming tomorrow to hook up electrical & gas. To sum up, I am happy with the unit.

Looks Great
Was an easy instillation with minimal issues and the instructions were clear. Within 5 hours of when I began, I had it up and running. Now all I have to do is sheet rock and finish around the fireplace. I found the flexible vent easy to install, and the outside trim kit for the vinyl siding made it all a breeze. With the log set and the embers, it looks very real and easily heats my family room.
Can be installed with only one person. The gas and electrical are simple and clear to follow.

Nice box with close clearances. I wish the flame would adjust higher. Some of the painting on the vents is poor quality. The instructions were very detailed. The blower motor I ordered did not work, so I'll get to see what kind of customer service is offered.

I was very hesitant to buy a fireplace online, but after going all over town, eFireplaceStore offered the best deal ever. Arrived within 7 days, all parts were present and it was very easy to install. My husband was able to do it by himself with the great instructions. Been working for two weeks, no issues.

Great fireplace but not so easy to install
The fireplace looks geat and works well. We like it a lot. The problem(s) were all related to installation documentation. Drawings did not match the product received. Quality of drawings were less satisfactory. In some cases it was impossible to determine the proper orientation of the venting and related accessories. We called eFireplaceStore and 2 out of 3 times had to contact the manufacturer. To get the manufacturer (Empire) to talk to us we had to say we were an "installer". If you said you were the home owner, they would not talk with you "for safety/liability reasons". (I understand that). To be fair, Empire is the one who needs to clean up their installation documents. The last call we made regarding the remote switch, the technician had us pull wires from under the fireplace to connect the remote even though the instructions specifically have you connect the remote to the TP lugs on the control body. I only found confirmation of that later when I Googled it and found others reporting the same discrepancy. Again, this is an Empire issue. Be ready to Google this to find answers to specific installation issues.

The fireplace I ordered was exactly as pictured and described. Prior to ordering I had some general questions and their associate was very helpful and well informed about the products. Nice unit for the price.
This is a decent fireplace for the price. I didn't get a blower or auto-ignition or remote. I will be ordering the remote and wish I had put the wall switch in and purchased the electronic ignition model.
Decent flame, puts off good heat even on low.
Fairly easy to install.
Should come with remote on all models instead of being an option

Great item
This arrived on time and well packaged. Instructions were excellent and it installed quickly. I had shopped around and found most fireplaces to be much more expensive. I have purchased half a dozen over the past years or so; some upwards of $2k. At the end of the day, they all kick out a flame. Naturally,, the $2k unit looks better .... but not THAT much better. I wish I had bought the remote control, which I will be adding today.

Great Fireplace For the Money
This is a very nice looking fireplace when someone compares it with the price tag. The only real negative to be discussed is that the flames really do not get all that high.
