It will provide a safety layer of insulation between your heating appliance and the floor, it will protect your floor from the weight of the appliance, and it will give things an overall more complete look. This floor pad in particular has been manufactured by Empire, a family-owned company since 1932, and has been designed specifically for use with Empire's RH25 and RH35 console gas room heaters, and Empire's DV40E and DV55E high-efficiency direct vent wall furnaces. |

Will the pad make the furnace blower less audible in the room directly downstairs, than if the furnace is sitting directly on the hard floor?

The pad will help lessen the noise but may not remove the noise completely.

What is the R-value of this pad?

This product does not provide any sort of R or K value as it is simply an optional accessory that is pre-cut added floor protection when installing one of the Empire heaters it is listed for use with on combustible flooring. When installed on a wood floor, these heaters require no floor protection. This differs from wood stoves, which will have specific dimensions and K or R values needed for required floor protection outlined in the installation instructions.

Can this pad and heater be placed on top of a "floating" composite wood floor or does the floor need to be cut out around it?
