You list the framing dimensions as 43 3/8" W x 37 3/4" H x 19 7/8" D but I notice that there is a taper toward the rear. Is the extra space necessary, and if not, what are the actual length and width numbers?

This unit does taper towards the rear, but the framing dimensions are listed as 43 3/8" W x 37 3/4" H x 19 7/8" D from the manufacturer, regardless. You can see the dimensions on page 14 of this manual.

How is the blower controlled? I want to use a standing pilot with an on/off switch. Is the control for the blower included?
1 Answer
The blower turns on and off automatically via the connected temperature switch. You can control the speed of the fan with the included rheostat/dimmer switch. This would be separate from the on/off toggle switch to control the fireplace.

That unit is not convertible from one gas type to another. They do not make such a kit for that unit.

Yes, this model does have a standing pilot/millivolt ignition. However, the same fireplace model is available with an electronic ignition/intermittent pilot instead, if you prefer. This is offered as either a basic upgrade to the IPI system or an advanced RF model that includes both the blower and a remote control, which controls the flame height and fan speed.

Does this unit come with glow embers? What is the energy efficiency?

This fireplace will include embers and will feature a yellow flame with proper installation and gas pressure supplied. The efficiency for this fireplace is 85%, while the efficiency for the Premium model is 83%.
