Venting your new direct vent appliance doesn't have to be a hassle and a half, and Empire has bundled everything you need in one convenient fireplace venting kit. The DVVK-4F kit includes just what you need to horizontally vent your new Tahoe Deluxe, Boulevard, Loft, or other Empire fireplaces. This direct vent kit includes flexible four-foot lengths of inner and outer pipework and even comes with a heat deflector to protect your home's vinyl siding.

I have roughly a 1-inch gap between the 7-inch New pipe and the old 8-inch pipe. What can I fill that gap with on the outside and the inside?
There is no listed material approved for use as filler for this space - your kit includes a wall shield/firestop that should be installed as a conduit for the pass-through.

The clearances for the exhaust terminal will be based on the appliance to which it is attached. It varies based on btu, testing, etc. You can typically find this list of clearances in the manual for your chosen fireplace.
