Hello, I have a Matrix R11575 Remote control for my gas fireplace. My puppy chewed on the remote, and I need a new back piece that covers the battery. I don't need to buy the entire kit. How can I just replace the black piece that slides over the batter?
    1 Answer
I have just spoken with a representative at the manufacturer, and unfortunately they do not offer the battery door as a single replacement part. You would have to replace the entire thing. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Will this remote work with the VFP32BP31LN-1. If so, I purchaced the Empire Electric Remote Control, which would be the wrong one.
    1 Answer
This remote will work, but the FREC you've ordered will also work. The only difference is that the FREC receiver will have to have a receptacle to provide 120VAC while the FRBC receiver is battery powered, but you should already have a 120V receptacle positioned in the lower control cavity for the fireplace you own for use with your circulating blower based on the model number you've provided.

Is this remote compatible with CUI-DVCP42BP30N-Natural Gas Empire DVCP42BP30N Tahoe Direct Vent Fireplace? There is millivolt standing pilot and I don't have electric outlet near by. Do I need it to have remote installed?
    1 Answer
Yes, this remote control is indeed compatible with that model fireplace. The remote includes a receiver box that will need to be wired to the valve and the transmitter will communicate with this receiver to turn the burner on and off from the standing pilot light.

Does the pilot light need to be left on for this to work?

The pilot will indeed need to be left on in order for this remote to operate the unit. Only if the unit was a spark ignition type would you be able to have the pilot activate by using the remote.

    Nice basic remote
We'd never had a remote start fireplace before but knew when we switched our our logs that we wanted to have a remote. This is a super basic on/off remote, but that's exactly what we wanted. It's nice to be able to turn the fireplace on with the touch of a button! I was really impressed with this little remote's range too...we experimented and found out that, if we were so inclined, we could use it from all the way upstairs and across the house to turn on or off the fireplace in our downstairs living room!

The remote would be better if it could turn the blower on and off.

    Battery operated remote
We have used the same remote since log installation for 7 years. All it ever needed was a change of batteries. This year new batteries didn't work, so ordered a replacement.
ConsAlthough the battery pack that connects to logs has an easy connect end, our original one was not connected in that manner (it appeared to be the same, but would not come apart) so connecting the replacement was a little more difficult.

    Good value, good service
This is an excellent unit that installs easily and works well and as advertised. Though just a simple on/off switch, the convenience of the remote control is nice to have. We had a nice experience with the sellers who answered our question about whether this was the correct unit for our log set. They also called us at home to get an address correction so that shipment would not be delayed and gave a nice suggestion for wiring the unit in series with the existing switch. All in all, a very good on-line purchase experience.
    ProsEasy to install, works flawlessly.

    A Must Have for Fireplace
A very simple off and on remote that makes turning the fireplace off and on very easy. I keep it on top of fireplace and it is nice not to have to stoop down and open the vent to turn on the gas logs.
    ProsEasy to use!
