Is this a low voltage switch?
    1 Answer
This item is just the wall plate and rocker switch.  However, we do offer this full low-voltage wall switch kit that includes the low voltage wire.

I have a wall light switch that doesn’t do anything. I have to get on knees and turn knob to get flames up and down.

    1 Answer
Wall switches generally just would be to turn the unit on and off and not to control the flame height. You may be able to use a remote, however.

What is the wiring requirement of this switch, if any?
    1 Answer
This is meant to use low voltage wiring to run to your unit's gas valve.

Is this switch available in different colors? The photo looks like it's ivory, but we would like one that matches all our other electrical devices which are bright white. Alternatively, can a regular light switch designed for 110V be used to control the milivolt igniter circuit? Thank you
    1 Answer
That is the only color empire offers. A standard light switch can be use but do NOT connect it to any electric (110V)

If you have a linear fireplace can you have a switch on the wall to turn it off and on and adjust the flame? Right now I just have a remote and its complicated
    1 Answer
We do not have any linear units that allow for flame adjustment through a wall switch. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Can one of these switches be used with an electronic regulator for a range? In additional to a manual shutoff to meet code, I want to add a simple switch to the side on the back-splash that would shut off gas to the range when we leave the house for the day. Sorry, if this is goofy question.
    1 Answer
You would not be able to use this switch for the application you are describing. I recommend contacting a licensed plumber for further guidance.

Can this switch safely take the place of a thermostat, acting as a simple on-off switch?
    1 Answer
This switch will indeed take the place of a millivolt or 24 volt wall thermostat and would convert the unit to basic on/off operation.

Did not need this with remote
Also, this requires some wiring and cutting in wall. It is really not needed with the remote.
