Can these heaters be hooked up to a chimney that used to be used for a wood stove? The chimney is an 8-inch triple-wall pipe.
No, this heater is only suitable for use with a 5" diameter type B gas vent pipe.

How do I turn the heat down?
There is a control knob on the rear, left-hand side of the unit. If it is turned into "pilot", the unit should not come on and only leave the pilot light lit. The pilot burning will make the unit warm to the touch and still produce a small amount of heat.
