Are these Empire 30" Flint Hill ceramix fiber ventless propane gas logs the light weight logs that glow when the flame makes contact with the logs? Also, is the thermostat mounted inside or outside the firebox?

These are ceramic fiber logs as opposed to refractory ceramic or concrete and ceramic fiber logs will produce a glow when heated. Please note that this is indirect flame contact as direct flame contact will cause incomplete combustion, which will lead to sooting and the release of carbon monoxide. While this will happen with both vented and vent free logs, proper placement of vent free logs is imperative to avoid the release of carbon monoxide with nowhere to vent but into the home.
