A decent woodstove

This is a reasonably good woodstove. Main con is the kludgy door latch design, although the door, its glass, and hinges are quite well made and assembled. It’s pros are the ash handling and quite efficient combustion volumetrics. Time will tell how the stainless steel exhaust baffles last. This stove is not for heating a very big area, particularly in a cold climate. It is great for areas where outside temp does not get below 30F unless used in a rather small environment. This stove is great for areas with mild winters. I personally like it, but should have bought a bigger stove. It is a bit high priced given the large number of manufacturers and models out there, but will see if the premium is worth it.

Pros

Easy on wood consumption.

Cons

Latch could use a better design. This is not the easiest stove to get fire started, perhaps due to draft physics, but it does not get smoke into room.

Perfect stove for a relative small area

I used this stove for a one-bedroom, large living area, 1,150 sq ft house, and it works great for that. People living in colder climates already know this, but if you're new to wood stoves as the only source of heating, it's important to understand the difference between this and central heating. Heating a house with a wood stove is a daily cycle, and all parts of the house will not be the same temperature. Having said that, this stove is one of the best things about the house, or any house I've lived in. It starts easily, the draft is strong, the burn is slow with the glass door in place - the screen allows much more air and a faster burn. Highly recommend. If I were in a larger house, rather than a larger stove, I would definitely go with two or more stoves this size or even smaller. Highly recommend the 1500, though.

Pros

Door and latch construction is solid and easy to usestrong draftslow burn, managed correctly, as per included instructionsoptional screen - separate purchaseeasy cleanout for asheslooks great
