Does it require a baffle in the stovepipe or is it integrated in the stove?
This stove has a baffle and secondary burn system built into the top of the unit. The manufacturer does not recommend using a damper in the stove pipe, as it will typically restrict the draft and cause back puffing of smoke into the home.

Drolet HT-3000 Extra Large Wood Burning Stove

Happy with heating capabilities

We bought the HT3000 to replace a smaller stove that wouldn't hold enough wood to have any coals left in the morning. We've been heating with it for almost 3 months with no complaints. Yesterdays high temp was 21 degrees with 30-40 mph winds. The room the woodstove is in is 900 sq ft and the temp in that room stayed 76-77 all day (a little too warm as far as I'm concerned)and dropping to 74 during the night as the fire started to burn down to coals. The rest of the house, which is approx. an additional 1500 sq ft stayed about 74 all day and dropping to 71-72 during the night. The outdoor temp overnight dropped to around 17. As you can see by the pic, I keep a pedestal fan going behind stove, even though I bought the blower kit for the stove. The blower doesn't seem to throw the warm air across the room like the fan does.

Pros

Large stove that produces some serious heat.

Cons

The only 2 minor cons I can think of are 1. The blower is quite loud on high speed for no more air that is circulated with it. Dont get me wrong, the blower kit definitely helps, especially when the temps outside aren't bitter cold. 2. I wish the firebox went down a little deeper below the level of the bottom of the door. It would be better for moving coals around without worrying about knocking them out onto the floor.

Excellent heat stove!

I was worried when I bought this stove, because I was unfamiliar with the brand and it wasn’t the stove I was looking for. However, it was rated well and was on several lists of great stoves, so I bought it and couldn’t be happier! It’s got a large firebox, is very efficient and is easy to load. I was initially looking for a stove that had a top loading option, but it’s not necessary with this stove, given the generous front to back depth. I couldn’t be happier with this beautiful stove!!

Pros

Generous front to back depth and large firebox. Reasonable affordability.

Cons

No top loading (although not necessary).

Better than expected

I was surprised at how well I liked the glass door. I had planned on replacing it with a steel plate right away, but I found I really like the ability to see the fire without opening the door. Big upgrade over the old Blaze King. Shipping was flawless

Pros

Very well built Good burn time Heats 3000sq. ft. home easily

Cons

would like to have the door open the other direction A little ash spills out the door almost every time it is opened

Very nice stove

I absolutely love this stove! Like many others I did a lot of research on stoves. I decided on this one and am very happy. I converted a 500 square foot attached garage into living space and put this stove in it. It was attached to the house by a 9 foot breezeway which has 5 steps up and into the main part of the house. This stove heats the whole house (minus the basement) perfectly. The house is a standard cape cod. The heat travels nicely up into the bedrooms which are on the second floor. It heats the house so well I turned off all the breakers to the electric baseboard heaters to ensure they don't get turned on. I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. Load it up at night, close the damper to 1/4 open and it stays hot and you'll have lots of coals to start the next fire in the morning. Comparing ghr price to other stoves, this is highly recommend

Pros

Heat output Burn time Woodbox size

Cons

None

Excellent wood stove

We purchased a Drolet HT3000 in fall 2020. Wanted to run it for a while before writing a review. Our home is 1570 sq ft with full walk out basement, built in the 90's. We are heating 3000 sq ft with the stove. The stove is located in the lower level and easily heats the entire house. Our coldest night so far was -18 C and the house was very warm. Most impressed at how much less wood the stove uses vs our old stove. Would highly recommend the additional blower fan. It is quiet and greatly increases the heat out put on colder days. Also like the ash pan. Very easy to lift the ash plug and scrape ash into the ash pan in the mornings. Always lots of coals after 8 to 10 hrs. Add some wood, open the damper and it takes off quickly. Highly recommend this stove.

Pros

Uses much less wood then conventional wood stove.

Cons

None I can think of.

Better than expected

This stove is a major upgrade from my previous stove. Great value. I have ran it daily since I got it and have not found anything I dislike about it. It was the difference of freezing and comfortable in my rural home. I like the ash tray too, it does what is intended and keeps the dust down. I was a bit skeptical of the plug fitting once it got dirty, but I have had zero issues with it. Nice long burn times too. I have had no draft issues either. Might take a bit to get going on really calm days, but once she is going, I have had no problems. I am very glad I got the HT 3000

Pros

Large firebox, heats really well Easy operation Looks really nice

Cons

It is a bit heavy, so pre-planning installation is a good idea, but I was able to do it with one other guy.
