Most appliances such as your water heater require a continuous connection of double-wall type B gas vent from the unit's flue collar to the termination. Please consult your installation manual for reference.

I am preparing to purchase DuraVent PelletVent Pro, and I see one product listed simply as DuraVent PelletVent. Is this compatible with the DuraVent PelletVent Pro?
Hi Richard, DuraVent PelletVent and PelletVent Pro are distinct venting systems and are not interchangeable. Components from the PVL (PelletVent) and PVP (PelletVent Pro) lines cannot be connected or mixed within the same vent run. Therefore, the pipe listed as DuraVent PelletVent will not connect to the PelletVent Pro system you intend to purchase.
The two lines differ in construction and fuel rating. PelletVent Pro is a double-wall, air-insulated system featuring a 444 stainless steel inner wall and a laser-welded galvalume or black outer wall. It is rated for wood pellets, corn, cherry pits, soybeans, other biofuels, and oil. The PelletVent PVL system is rated exclusively for hardwood pellets. Both lines are available in 3-inch and 4-inch inner diameters.
For a PelletVent Pro installation, every component in the vent run, including pipes, elbows, tees, caps, and adapters, must be a PelletVent Pro part. I have a customer with a Lennox-MPD4540CNM-B fireplace that currently terminates horizontally through the rear. The customer needs to raise the termination cap as it exits onto a walkway. They would like to cap the rear exhaust port, open the top port, add 12 inches of vertical pipe, a 90-degree elbow, and approximately 30 inches of horizontal pipe to the termination cap. The wall has not yet been opened, and we assume the fireplace has both rear and top openings. Please advise on: 1. If this configuration is possible. 2. What specific parts are required. 3. If these parts can be supplied. I recall a similar installation with a Superior unit previously.

No, if you are using the DuraVent DVL double-wall black stovepipe, that pipe is not intended to be combined with single-wall pipe.
