The arch doors for your Empire Door Frame with Barrier Screen and Arch Doors - Matte Black - Tahoe Deluxe 32 Inch Models attach to the door frame, which then installs as an overlay over the sealed glass front of your Empire 32-inch Tahoe Deluxe fireplace. This assembly includes the safety barrier screen within the door frame. Instructions for attaching the doors and frame, along with the necessary fasteners, are included with the product. You may need to drill pilot holes for frame installation. Please note that this item is specifically designed for Tahoe Deluxe 32-inch direct vent fireplaces and may not be compatible with other models.

Direct Vent means that the unit gets 100% of its combustion air from outside the home and vents 100% of the by-product to the outside. In order for those (direct vent) units to do so the glass is sealed and fixed.

So there is no option to use that unit without the sealed glass. Any open front gas fireplaces are either natural vent (class A or B-vented) or a vent free unit.

The "operable" label means that the doors on the front can be opened and closed. There will not be glass on them, as this is meant strictly as a barrier that goes over the sealed glass front of a direct vent fireplace.
