If the unit shuts off on its own and no one is home, is my home safe? Or if I notice the unit acting up and shutting off before I leave, should I turn off the unit and the gas supply until it can be serviced?

This 30,000 BTU heater can be adjusted to have one plaque lit (7,000 BTU Propane, 8,000 BTU Natural Gas), three plaques lit (18,000 BTU), or all five plaques lit (30,000 BTU).
