How much clearance between stove surfaces and mantle/surround?

The clearance above the appliance needs to be 36", and the sides of the appliance require 6". You can view the required clearances on page 9 of this installation manual.

Do you need a hearth mat as it is going on a vinyl floor?

Per the manufacturer, "This appliance must be installed on a flat, solid, continuous surface (e.g. wood, metal, concrete). This may be the floor, or it may be raised up on a platform to enhance its visual impact. The continuous surface may be covered with carpeting, vinyl, wood flooring or other combustible material."

Is the flame adjustable?
