Customer Q&A with Product Specialists

John W. from mass asked:
Can I put this stove in a corner near glass sliding doors?
Can I put this stove in a corner near glass sliding doors?
Yes, the Empire Medium Spirit Vent Free Gas Heating Stove - IPI Pilot (Small) can typically be placed in a corner near glass sliding doors, provided you maintain the minimum clearances to combustible materials as per the installation guidelines. These clearances are: * **Side Wall:** 6 inches (from the side of the stove to any combustible side wall). * **Rear Wall:** 2 inches (from the back of the stove to any combustible rear wall). * **Adjacent Corner Wall (45° angle):** 4 inches (from the corner of the stove to an adjacent combustible wall). * **Ceiling:** 36 inches (from the top of the appliance to the ceiling). * **Floor:** 0 inches (if installed on a non-combustible floor). Remember that glass sliding doors often have combustible frames, so these clearances must be applied to the door frames and any adjacent combustible wall structures. It is crucial to check local codes and regulations, as well as the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54, before purchasing and installing this vent-free appliance. Installation may be prohibited in certain areas; for example, unvented propane and natural gas-fired space heaters are prohibited in bedrooms and bathrooms in Massachusetts.

Gas stoves do not get nearly as hot as wood stoves, however, should not be touched during operation. If there are small children or pets we recommend a screen to sit in front of the appliance for safety.
