    How low does the flame go? Is it a three-sided view?

    The flame level on low gets the flames just below most of the logs in the included set.  This is just a one-sided model, there is no multi-side option.

    How hot does the outside of the box get to the touch? Is it like the old wood burning stoves where it could cause severe burns?

    Gas stoves do not get nearly as hot as wood stoves, however, should not be touched during operation. If there are small children or pets we recommend a screen to sit in front of the appliance for safety.
