If I have exactly 32 inches across the front will the Empire 31 Innsbrook insert fit?
Yes. The minimum fireplace opening required for installation of this insert is 30-1/2" wide, 22-3/8" high and 15" deep. At the 15" depth, your fireplace must still have 19" of width available.

Empire Medium Innsbrook Vent Free Fireplace Insert/Fireplace with Blower - IPI Ignition
I found eFireplace online and gave them a call. Their technical advisor answer all my question and helped me to decide to on ordering the IPI ignition unit. He even place my order for a Empire 31 Inch Innsbrook Vent Free Gas Fireplace Insert/Fireplace - Intermittent Pilot instead of doing it online, which was a great help. It was shipped that day and we received it within 3 or 4 days. Insulation was fairly simple and it worked just fine. Because it is August here in Texas with 96 degrees, we have not run it other than to test it out. I was impressed on how easy it was to install and setup with very little effort. It fit perfectly in place of our old wood fireplace, and I see no problem with the unit, it tested out just fine, and it should heat just fine come cold weather.
Pros
It was easily installed, had good insulation instructions,operated prefect right out of the box, and it seams to be easy to operate.
