Are any of your wood inserts made for wood chase style fireplaces? We have an older add-on to our house with a chase and would like to replace our worn unit.
The England Stove Works Blue Ridge 150-I Wood Burning Fireplace Insert is designed specifically for installation into an existing masonry fireplace, not a factory-built chase-style fireplace.
Wood-burning inserts made for chase-style (factory-built or manufactured) fireplaces are much more limited than masonry inserts. Many insert manufacturers either do not approve their units for factory-built fireplaces at all, or only approve a small number of specific models, because the opening height, flue collar size, and clearance requirements differ from a masonry firebox. Approval always depends on the make and model of the existing factory-built fireplace.
If you can provide the manufacturer and model number of your existing chase fireplace (there is usually a data plate inside the firebox or on the side wall), we can check which wood insert models, if any, are manufacturer-approved for that unit.

It is also important to know if the opening is for an existing masonry fireplace, a framed wall, or a mantel cabinet, and if the opening tapers towards the back.
