How to Choose the Ideal Fire Media for Your Stove

Did you know you have a choice of different fire media types for your stove? What are the options? When it comes to stove media, your preference is key. There are two primary choices: either logs or glass media. Each has its appeal, and you might find one speaks to you more than the other. Let's talk about media and how you can choose exactly what you wish to see when you look into your new stove.

  • Logs: As you might imagine, log media consists of faux logs made of refractory cement or ceramic fiber. Gas logs come in various styles and appearances, though your stove selection may limit your options.

  • Glass: Fire glass is tempered, specially treated glass that won't combust in your stove. We can not emphasize enough that not all glass can be used in a fireplace. It can come in various shapes, sizes, and colors, making them fully customizable in a way that some prefer.
  • None: Some stoves don't have media options. They use the fuel with no additional bells or whistles to be added to improve the appearance of the flame. Stoves without additional media options offer a simple, no-fuss approach to heating your home.

Now that we have covered the available media types, let's move on to the next section, the ignition type!
