It is listed and tested as an open masonry fireplace and requires a 14-inch inner diameter Class A chimney system. Whether a wood-burning insert can be placed within this firebox and vented through this system is a listing and safety question that must be approved by FireRock. We cannot confirm this pairing for you. Please contact FireRock technical support at 888.876.1025 with your MONTP2BM model number before purchasing the kit. Also, confirm the insert's requirements with Hearth and Home Technologies at the number provided above. If FireRock approves the installation, please reply with the firebox opening dimensions the Montpelier II requires (front width, rear width, opening height, and depth), along with its flue collar size and required liner diameter from the Montpelier II manual. We can then compare these specifications against the FireRock 36 firebox and its chimney components. Knowing whether this is for a new build or an existing chase is also helpful.
